Way back when I was seven years old, I made friends with Ralph James Beierly. I literally grew up with him and his family. Ralph’s father (Pete) was my sponsor at my Confirmation. My son James, is named after Ralph – (Ralph insisted I use his middle name).
I haven’t seen most of them in years, but we manage to keep in touch mostly by Facebook these days. Frank Beierly (Ralph’s older brother) is one of the first people I knew to publish a family site. It’s located at: Beierly Home Page. I’m not sure when Frank first started it, but it’s pretty old (well over five years!).

The Beierly’s Web Site
August 23, 2010 by kmabarrett
Yeah, I started it in 1998 (still in frontpage format) I guess it’s a snapshot of a family, Kevin remember years ago me asking for pictures? No problem because everyone’s page is from that time, which means everyone else got right on it too. I still have the page for you guys but it’s probably 8 or 9 years old (want me to post it )? I can still add stuff to the site but there is so much more out there with lots more connectivity these days. I’m keepin’ it too. Kevin, you’ve read a lot of ‘Ray’s Writings’?
Hi Kevin – cool blog. I don’t know how to do this thing – website/blogs etc……I like our story about how you met up with Beierly’s. I did not know you named your son after Ralph’s middle name James. Alex’s middle name too. “Alex James Beierly” What a trip!
I am really so bad on not keeping touch with you and your daughter Rebecca since Ralph and I are her Godparents. I seriously feel terrible about it. I don’t even have any other godchildren. How do I make it up?
I really would like to know her better. At least we do communicate on FB. Anyway, hope all is well with you and family. Take Care and God Bless!
Love,
Janet
Hi Janet,
Thanks. I hope you’ll check back with it every now and then.
Blogs are easy to set up. Just go to wordpress.com and create an account (like facebook or email), then try to make a habit of writing something as frequently as time allows. I linked mine to facebook, so if you go to my wall, you can see the most recent blogs. It doesn’t quite work the same as “facebook-status”, so unless folks subscribe to you they won’t get your stuff automatically. They have to go to your wall. (Or maybe they can, but I just don’t know how to set it up that way…)
Don’t worry about Rebecca. Just send her a msg every now and then so she knows you care. Slowly, slowly…
Stay well and God Bless!
I remember going with your mom to the Beierly’s home and discovering lumpia for the first time. They were wonderful people.
Hi Cuz,
How’re you doing? I hope you enjoy looking thru my blog. Let me know if your side of the family has a web site or blog(s) and I’ll add some links from mine. I use Facebook, too, but I find a blog better for musing about life…
Great to hear from you! I’ll try to be more FB friendly.
