Today (Day 13 of 17) I did all sets together again for the seventh day (not in a row, as I missed four rainy days). I did the normal 5 sets of 50 pull-downs (250 total) with 40lbs; and, 5 sets of 25 side pull-downs (both sides) with 40lbs. I finished with five sets of simple hangs. All were partial hangs (feet on ground / knees bent). Today was done with breaks between rotations. I was using old socks (again) to protect the back of my hands during the side pull-downs. They worked and kept my hands warm(ish) in the cold air. I believe I will continue to use them. I’m not sure why, but I felt as if I needed longer breaks between the sets – hence the longer time to complete the workout. Also, HR is down, but I had the FB in my left sock instead of on my wrist. On my wrist it interferes with the workout and with the socks / wristbands. |

Today was done with almost no breaks between rotations, but I was trying to work out how to protect the back of my hands during the side pull-downs. I’ve been blistering the skin off. My “fix” is to wear wrist sweatbands. It worked, but not well. I’m going to try wearing an old sock with holes cut out for my fingers / thumb. |

I finished with five sets of simple hangs. I didn’t bother trying to hang from the bar today. I just lowered myself until I could almost lift free of the ground. I was able to hold for 10 seconds every time. I think I prefer breaking up the sets throughout the day, but it IS easier to just knock them out in one go. It’s just not as fun. My earlier estimate (and recording) of how long it takes to complete a set was completely off. I was estimating 3 minutes per set based on 1 lift per second times (1) pull-down, (1) right side pull-down, and (1) left side pull-down. It actually takes about 8 to 9 minutes per set. It seems I’m taking about three seconds per lift and not one(1). I will use this time going forward, but I will not go back to correct the earlier times. Yesterday, was 58 minutes. Today was 44 minutes. So, I did get better, but yesterday I did the weights after the step-ups, so I was probably a lot more tired / slower for the same number of sets (5). |

One day left and then I’ll (probably) start adding sets. Today was my second day of being to hang with my weight fully suspended off the ground. The first set was “0”, I started and just let go. I wasn’t psychologically ready. In set two(2), I was able to hang until “3 alligator”. I fell on the “4” of fourth alligator, but I was happy to do a “3” full second count. On the final three sets, I made it up to two seconds each, but not past. Again, still making progress.
I set up my “vertical double-double” today and tried it out. It seems good. I also tried adding the “horizontal single-double” with the “VDD” and it kind of gives me a “triple-double” and gives me a body target, an upper-cut target and a head-shot target. It still needs work as I can’t use the horizontal single-double as a slip-rope when the VDD is set up too. But, I can switch between them and just the weights in seconds – certainly less than a minute. |
