Subtle Humor

In the last week, I tried a bit of humor – just to see if anyone noticed (or cared). |

I am not now |
That which I have been |

[No, I haven’t read the whole poem… But I liked this one line. — KMAB] |

I am not now |
That which I have been. |
-– Lord Byron |
From: “Childe Harold“ |
[As stated by Heraclitus of Ephesus: “You can never step into the same river; for new waters are always flowing on to you.” To which I would add, and you are always at least slightly older. But, more importantly, are you greater (wise, kind, gentle) or lesser (bitter, cruel, hard)? — KMAB] |
The version posted earlier received five “likes”. The second version received three “likes”. The three likes were from completely different people. |
Now, I don’t know if the first five recognized the duplication and chose not to comment (or to “like” again), or simply didn’t notice (or didn’t care). |
In any case, this was not a duplication error. It was (for me) a subtle play on both the Byron quote and my second comment (including the quote by Heraclitus) that we are never the same person, even when we read the same thing a few days later. |
I’ve been told humor is not funny if you have to explain the joke… How come I’m still smiling? |
