One’s philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes.  In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves.  The process never ends until we die.  And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.
    —    Eleanor Roosevelt
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
    —    Edmund Burke
The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants.  He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the nation as a whole.  Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly as necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right.  Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile.  To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.  Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else.  But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else.
    —    Republican President Theodore (“Teddy”) Roosevelt
[Tomorrow, Congress (both House and Senate) will meet in joint session to “officially” count votes from the electoral college and declare the winner of the 2020 Presidential election.  The “winner” of the election was former Vice-President Joe Biden.  The loser of the election was the current President: Donald Trump.  Biden won the election by over 7 million voters nationwide and surpassed the 270 electoral college votes required to become President.  The losing President (Trump) and his political party (the Republicans) are claiming there was voter fraud and election “irregularities” – but, only in the swing states where the President lost the election and only on the votes for the Presidency (not for Republicans who kept their offices while the President did not).  There is NO evidence to support claims of either significant voter fraud or irregularity in ANY state.  The Republicans are lying to the American public and to the voters they represent in the hopes of furthering their own political careers.  The American public has voted.  Trump LOST by a significant margin.  It is well past time to accept reality and turn to solving the outstanding problems facing our country.  Tomorrow we will see which “representatives” (Congressmen and Senators) in our government believe in “democracy” and which are willing to sacrifice our country’s principles for the sake of an incompetent businessman / politician / con-artist.    —    kmab]

Back Stabbers

Comment(s):
Obviously, this video is about romantic relationships and not politics, but I heard it on the radio and it just reminded me of #45 aka:  #DonTheCon.  Hopefully, soon to be “Don The Convict” instead of “Don The Con“-man.  The man is only interested in himself and will stab anyone in the back as soon as he’s satisfied he no longer needs them.  This goes from his “allies” in Congress and on the Alt-Right, to the Republican Party, to his family, to our country.  You either serve his immediate needs or you are nothing to him.

The person who says he knows what he thinks but cannot express it usually does not know what he thinks.
     —    Mortimer Adler
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I’m not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
     —    Alan Greenspan
[I have frequently heard people asking why President Trump can’t form words into intelligible sentences and (loosely defined) sentences into a coherent paragraph.
My (opinion) response is:  I + I + I + U = BS.
Start with Ignorance (doesn’t know what he needs to know), add Indifference (doesn’t care about what he needs to know), low Intelligence and an Unwillingness to read / listen / learn == spew a typical #DonTheCon string of words (non-sense / garbage) aka:  Bull Sh*t and lies.
And that’s why I’m looking forward to 20 January 2021.   —    kmab]

If we take people as they are, we make them worse.  If we treat them as if they were what they ought to be, we help them to become what they are capable of becoming.
    —    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
[In 2016, although we had our strong opinions (and a three million majority voted against him), we weren’t positive what candidate Trump would be like as President.  Four years later, we now KNOW what he has been like and will continue to be:  He is a tragically divisive and incompetent President who has failed the country.
What have you got to lose?”   —    Candidate Donald Trump.
With over 180,000 dead from COVID-19, we now have 180,000-plus families who can answer his question.  If YOU take him as he is in 2020, he will get worse and America will continue its current decline.  If you vote #DonTheCon out of Office, you will help him become what he ought to be:  unemployed.  And, if the State of New York has anything to say about it, he may become what he IS capable of becoming:  a convicted felon.    —    kmab]

O, it is excellent to have a giant’s strength, but it is tyrannous to use it like a giant.
     —    Shakespeare
[Are we better off today than we were four years ago?  I’m not just talking about 185,000 dead.  I’m not just talking about a crashed economy.  If there were no virus and we were still tooling along at 4% unemployment, were you REALLY better off?  Almost half of ALL Americans were living pay-check to paycheck.  Many are / were working two minimum wage jobs and are / were barely getting by.  Almost 2/3rd of working Americans have almost no savings for a “sudden” $400 emergency, let alone for retirement.  President  Trump (and the Republicans) want to destroy Social Security by de-funding it and promising it will be “paid for” from increased tax revenue from the future “booming” economy.  The truth is the SSA actuarial office has said if SSA taxes are eliminated, the SSA will run out of funds COMPLETELY in 2023!!!  President Trump lies multiple times EVERY day.  He is not being casual with the facts.  He is NOT just kidding.  He is LYING!  And, he is lying to constantly try to stoke fear.  Four years ago, it was the raping and murdering Mexicans invading across the border.  Now, it’s the liberals (i.e. “Democrats”) who are already here.  IF crime, rioting and violence are out of control, why hasn’t he done anything about the root causes of the problems.  The Republican controlled Senate is still dithering about a much needed economic relief package.  Now, when I say “Republican” controlled, what I mean is TRUMP controlled Senate as it’s his Cabinet level team which is doing the negotiations with the Democrats and whatever is agreed will pass both sides of Congress.  Senator McConnell is simply a figurehead manipulating the rules to the Republican advantage.  He is not the player / negotiator in the room with the Dems.  There is no relief because Trump wants to blame the Democrats (Pelosi and Shumer) in the lead up to the election.  So, I ask two questions:  Do you really believe President Trump is acting in your interests?  And, are you better off than you were four years ago?     —    kmab]

An experiment is never a failure solely because it fails to achieve predicted results.
    —    Robert M. Pirsig
From his book:  “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
[Sometimes an experiment is a failure solely because it achieves what should have been expected results.   Hey, let’s elect an immoral (lying, cheating and tax-evading) failure of a businessman and see if he can be an honest politician who will set aside his personal and financial interests to work for the good of the country.  Yeah, that’s a GREAT idea!    —     kmab]

Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes…  but no plans.
     —    Peter Drucker
[This sounds remarkably like #DonTheCon’s platform for the 2016 presidential campaign…  Promises…  Hopes…  But only his secret plans to “make America great again”; which he alone could make happen…  Yet, after three years in office, he still has not revealed a single plan.  Could it be he never had ANY secret plans???  To fix health care?  To get us out of wars in the Middle East?  To solve the Israel / Palestinian problem?  To lower crime or decrease gun violence?  To fix immigration?  Has Mexico paid one peso to build the wall?  To get better trade deals?  To disarm a nuclear capable North Korea?  Just asking…???  In #DumbDonald’s case, “commitment” hasn’t been the problem.  The problems have been his lack of ability, intelligence and integrity.  On second thought, no…  Even discounting those three obvious failings, he’s still a below average to absolute failure as a President.  Unfortunately for the country (and the world), he is just one of those pitiable individuals who history has tragically promoted FAR beyond his level of competency.   —    kmab]
