Living by default
Hi Beth,
Yes. I think of it as almost zombie-land… The flip side of that is (I guess) living to everyone else’s (especially your parents) expectations. Some folks never discover their passions or themselves. To quote Thoreau: “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” With that, TV always telling us about the “have’s” in our society, and the political climate of the last 50 years saying take responsibility for your own life, don’t expect help and lift yourselves up by your bootstraps — otherwise, you are a failure as a person, is it any wonder we (as a society) are losing hope and turning to pain killers and becoming drug addicts. (And I won’t even get into the “responsibility” of “big pharma… Perhaps the biggest and best organized drug cartel in the history of humanity.)
Ooops, I’m getting on my soapbox again. I didn’t mean to start getting all heavy on a relatively benign post.
Anyway, thanks for the continued support (visits and comments)!
Kevin
