I agree. It amazes me how often politicians don’t bother to think through what is likely to happen as the result of decisions they make.
I believe it is partly a symptom of our times that ideology and the desire to gain (or retain) power (or wealth) corrupts the rational ability of otherwise considerate people and a simple inability to understand that no matter how much we work for something, it is frequently (unseen) luck which brings success. This success is then viewed as a “birthright” because we were “better” than others and somehow our efforts more deserving of victory / success. And, then there is always the law of unintended consequences…
