I started having chest pains and pain radiating down my left arm to my elbow as of last Friday. The pain was quite severe (like an ice pick) going from the center of my chest to my left shoulder. The problem was, it was very brief – about 5 to 10 seconds. It was at least 5 seconds. As for the “to” 10, I can’t really say because when you are in severe pain, time seems to expand to forever. It happened a couple of times on Friday. Three times on Saturday. Once on Sunday and then twice on Monday. After the sharp pain, I was unable to breathe for about 20 seconds.
Finally, I said enough is enough and went to the ER. They did all of the usual tests and X-ray and said it was not my heart, but go see my cardiologist before going back to work and then they gave me three days off (including the Monday in ER). I managed to get in to see my cardiologist and he agreed with the ER Doctor. It is / was almost certainly not my heart. Bottom line is I’m on Ibuprofen for 10 days to see if that stops the cartilage inflammation which is the “probable” cause of the pain. So, it looks like I’m not dying. (That’s good news!)
Today, I’ve decided to start back on a juicing / blending diet. I’ve no idea how long I’ll go this time. I’ve been exchanging comments with a lady blogger who’s been going for over 30 days! That’s pretty inspirational, but I don’t know if I can go that long. We’ll just have to see. In the meantime, I’ve taken some photos of myself in the event I manage to go any significant length of time. (Don’t worry, I won’t gross you out with them unless I manage to loose some serious weight. LOL.) Today is Day 1!! Before I forget, my weigh-in at the cardiologist was 339lbs. So, that’s my new baseline. To put that in perspective, on 1 July (last year), I was 367. Wish me luck…

It is no use for one to stand in the shade and complain that the sun does not shine upon him.
