Here I stand | |
Alone, unbowed | |
One man | |
Destined to be | |
Himself, and no other. | |
Sharing, caring, | |
Watching the pain | |
Others inflict | |
Because | |
They have felt pain. | |
I understand | |
But do not accept | |
What they think they feel
Perhaps, | |
It is the man in me today | |
Perhaps, | |
It is the child in the past…
I face the future | |
And acknowledge | |
The hopes of those | |
Like myself… | |
Who live alone | |
As themselves. | |
One day, | |
We will breach | |
That void | |
Which separates | |
Us | |
And the little people | |
The bitter minds | |
The small of soul | |
Will cringe… | |
Not because | |
We will try to conquer | |
Or rule | |
But because we will | |
Depart | |
And leave them | |
This world | |
They so cherish and covet.
That they might | |
Know the consequences | |
Of being more than animals
But less than men. | |
